LGBTQ+ Education for Adult Learners

Why LGBTQ+ Education Matters for Adults

Embrace lifelong learning in supporting LGBTQ+ family, friends, and colleagues.

We continue to learn throughout our lifetimes, but sometimes, we might need to learn something now (or yesterday). From learning to self-correct and apologize authentically to navigating challenging conversations with grace and empathy, explore Charlie’s podcast, resources, on-demand webinars (coming soon!), and more below.

Some resources are still being built out. This page will be updated as they are ready to be public!

Upcoming Event: Beyond He and She

Let's celebrate International Pronouns Day together!

  • Why do people use multiple pronoun sets?

  • Why should I share mine?

  • Does this mean I'm trans or gay?

  • What if I make a mistake?

Join Charlie and other online participants for this engaging 90-minute session, including Q&A, on Wednesday, October 16th, 2024

Allyship is a Verb Podcast

Listen to Charlie’s award-winning podcast, “Allyship is a Verb.” You’ll hear directly from members of LGBTQ+ communities from different intersections, backgrounds, and locations. Each episode includes storytelling and ends with an allyship tip directly from the guest. Some guests come back to give us updates!

Episodes are ~60 minutes long. Sometimes, there are special bonus video episodes.

This podcast is the inspiration for the event sessions of the same name.

LGBTQ+ US Resources Directory

With so many categories for LGBTQ+ resources across the United States, it serves as a great starting point for you to find what you need. Charlie started this project back in 2007!

You can also start on the landing page to see all of the current categories.

Downloadables

Charlie has created different resources over the years, such as Slack pronoun emojis and the Pronoun & Name Mistake flowchart, now version 1.1!

You can read more about the flowchart in this blog post.
You can check out the other downloadables here.

Public Events

Charlie hosts free and paid events on LinkedIn, through Zoom, in person, or in collaboration with other organizations, such as the Denver Public Library.

Some of these are posted online, such as Are You OK?: Empowering Trans Youth Through Storytelling or the 2024 Guest Speaker Series for PFLAG Los Angeles.

Charlie’s events are also advertised in their newsletters below.
